Munich Climate Week 2026: Meet Climate+Tech and the Adaptation Exchange

Munich Climate Week 2026 takes place from 19–25 October 2026, bringing a city-wide programme of talks, workshops, walks, exhibitions and networking events to Munich. Climate+Tech is there together with the Adaptation Exchange to connect with people working on climate adaptation, resilience and practical climate solutions.

The first Munich Climate Week brings together participants from science, business, culture and civil society. Rather than treating climate as a separate agenda, the programme explores how mitigation and adaptation connect with the economy, energy, health, mobility, nature and everyday life in Munich.

Climate adaptation at Munich Climate Week 2026

Climate adaptation is a clear part of this year’s programme. Sessions range from hands-on business resilience tools and climate-risk management to adaptive design, planned relocation and practical approaches for cities and organisations.

That focus matters because awareness of physical climate risk is not the same as preparedness. Organisations still need ways to compare risks, decide which measures deserve investment and coordinate action across finance, operations, procurement and sustainability teams.

This is where the Adaptation Exchange is focused. The cross-sector platform brings together corporates, financial institutions, insurers and solution providers to turn climate-risk awareness into coordinated resilience investment. Climate+Tech is a founding partner, contributing product and solution discovery, research collaboration and scientific support.

The Adaptation Exchange: Crossing the cold

On Wednesday, 21 October, from 07:00 to 08:30, the Adaptation Exchange hosts Crossing the cold at Lake Starnberg.

The sunrise swim uses cold water as a tangible metaphor for adaptation: the initial shock is uncomfortable, preparation matters, and moving forward is easier together. The crossing starts on the west shore of Lake Starnberg, with a gathering at Steg Percha from 07:45. Experienced open-water swimmers may join at their own risk, while everyone else is welcome to meet the group at the finish.

The event follows an earlier crossing during Climate Week Zurich 2026 and continues the same practical message: adaptation can be difficult at first, but collective preparation makes resilience possible.

Why Munich Climate Week matters

Munich has a dense network of research institutions, established companies, startups, investors and civil-society organisations working on climate-related questions. A city-wide week creates space for those communities to meet beyond their usual sectors.

The programme reflects how broad effective climate action has become. It includes climate protection and adaptation alongside the circular economy, sustainable innovation, entrepreneurship, finance, mobility and community initiatives. This mix is useful because resilience cannot be delivered by one discipline or organisation alone.

For Climate+Tech, the important question is how research and climate data become decisions, services and maintainable tools. Munich Climate Week offers a place to compare approaches with the people who will apply them—and to identify where collaboration can close practical gaps.
